More on Pantonopia

In a perfect world

Behold! The perfectly moulded 1960 plastic Panton chair and the 1956 fiberglass Saarinen Tulip chair. Oh what a show.

White Everythings Part Deux

White floors? Questions which remain unanswered: will it require my undivided attention? Will it also contribute to decrease the value of the property? And which finish to use....

Concrete Art by Transparent House

Concrete art is a conceptual design concept by Transparent House designed to warm up an otherwise cold concrete floor. Designs are drawn into the concrete before it sets. They do not reveal exactly how it's done but it seams pretty obvious. Poor concrete. Go nuts. Bring forth the rubber boots! Bring forth the cotton gloves!

I want in on this shit

'xept I have no clue where or what it is...

update: San-zhi UFO homes in Taiwan, a series of vacation homes marketed towards affluent Taipei residents seaking to get out of the city.

Wingardh's Swedish delight dollhouse

While I'm at it (R.U.M.C. (ridiculously unobtainable minimalistic constructions)), here's one on the Swedish side of Gothenburg. Complete with zig-zag gardens and freaking enormous quite large front deck.

a Biehler-Weith Makeover

When an 80 year old lady asked Bielher-Weith Architects to renovate her typical white cube Bauhaus home, there seemed to be nothing extraordinary to be done. The firm, however, quickly grew enthusiastic visualizing the home's potential, which was the fact that it was built on a mountain with a view over a vast vineyard. The plan was to have new construction transcend the existing elements, not mask them. They added over sized windows and left the open spaces white creating a natural flow and breathable spaces. Finally, they wrapped the houses' facades in aluminum panelings (a project which has brought Biehler-Weith a first prize for aluminum architectural renovation).

Beat at Cinecitta / 60's Groove

Beat at Cinecita is a collection of (3) records compiling the best of 60's italian flick tunes. An absolute must for lounging / dining / love making / bath soaking / wine drinking / martini shaking / cat brushing / space jogging / underwear dancing...

Get it?

Not an easy record to find. I saw the vinyl hung on the wall behind the cash at Beatnicks. Didn't ask the price but I suspect it was no cheap deal.

Turner Castle Architectural Design

Turner Castle interior design London provides "holistic integrated design service". Notorious works are such as the conceptualization of the way finding devices (for visually impared users) at the Heathrow Airport as well as a converted barn house. All pure and minimalistic, user-centered designs. This here is a small summerhouse for a family of 4, built as an extension to their original home. Side walls of stainless steal reflective panels is what most caught my eye.

DIY stylish veneer lamp

Here's a simple yet stylish lamp made from a scrap piece of clear acrylic, a band of birch veneer and a Ikea LED strip. All you will need is a heating glue gun to fold the acrylic to desired form, and to stick on the band of veneer. Taken from How 2 Point Oh blog which features many interesting DIY home projects, often very cheap to make.

Plywood christmas tree

Available in three sizes, Buro North has created a Green Christmas tree which has, through its production process, minimal waste and a flat-packed design all via a locally sourced plantation pine. With its easy to store package, this tree, as well as its design, will remain reusable for many years.

Reston House

via: reston museum

Reston is a community based on three fundamental, interrelated ideas:

  1. People should be able to live near the place where they work if they want to.
  2. Housing should be available for all people of all income groups if they wish to live and work in the same community.
  3. Diverse cultural, religious, educational and recreational facilities should be an integral part of the community from the beginning.
When Hickory Cluster was designed in 1962-63, Charles M. Goodman, FAIA (1906-1992) had already achieved national prominence for his modern residential designs and subdivision planning...Goodman's designs featured clean, crisp profiles; absence of surface ornament; large areas of glass; and the innovative use of modern materials. His spatial arrangements minimized circulation space and visually merged inside with outside. Further, his interiors utilized simple textures, natural materials and abundant daylight...Goodman was a prolific innovator, believing that "…the techniques of modern history can serve man's need for beauty as well as, or even better than, the ancient art of handcraft." From his early explorations of simplified wood detailing and structural systems to his later experiments with prefabricated components in wood, aluminum and concrete, he consistently sought to utilize new and improved building materials and construction assemblies.

Pet Space

via: modern cat Making its U.S. debut at the SuperZoo pet industry show this week in Las Vegas, is a new line of Italian pet furniture by b.pet. Unlike anything else at the show, this extremely modern collection is obviously rooted in Italian design. Five different bed styles include the minimalist Tube and Ring, the retro-pop Bubble, the modernist-inspired Squared, and the more elaborate Wave. All are made in Italy and are currently being imported to the U.S. by Kylo Importers.

That's a pillowy pillow!

Michele Varian got the crafty bug after her parents recruited her and her 2 twin sisters to fix their Victorian century-old house. A few years later, she created not only an impressive array of fancy handbags and clutches, but also a collection of handcrafted pillows, each of them uniquely designed. Michele admits most of the designs were inspired by her husband's tattoos! Pretty......pretty cozy.
