Concrete Art by Transparent House
Concrete art is a conceptual design concept by Transparent House designed to warm up an otherwise cold concrete floor. Designs are drawn into the concrete before it sets. They do not reveal exactly how it's done but it seams pretty obvious. Poor concrete. Go nuts. Bring forth the rubber boots! Bring forth the cotton gloves!

Wingardh's Swedish delight dollhouse
While I'm at it (R.U.M.C. (ridiculously unobtainable minimalistic constructions)), here's one on the Swedish side of Gothenburg. Complete with zig-zag gardens and freaking enormous quite large front deck.
a Biehler-Weith Makeover
When an 80 year old lady asked Bielher-Weith Architects to renovate her typical white cube Bauhaus home, there seemed to be nothing extraordinary to be done. The firm, however, quickly grew enthusiastic visualizing the home's potential, which was the fact that it was built on a mountain with a view over a vast vineyard. The plan was to have new construction transcend the existing elements, not mask them. They added over sized windows and left the open spaces white creating a natural flow and breathable spaces. Finally, they wrapped the houses' facades in aluminum panelings (a project which has brought Biehler-Weith a first prize for aluminum architectural renovation).

Reston House
via: reston museum
Reston is a community based on three fundamental, interrelated ideas:
- People should be able to live near the place where they work if they want to.
- Housing should be available for all people of all income groups if they wish to live and work in the same community.
- Diverse cultural, religious, educational and recreational facilities should be an integral part of the community from the beginning.
When Hickory Cluster was designed in 1962-63, Charles M. Goodman, FAIA (1906-1992) had already achieved national prominence for his modern residential designs and subdivision planning...Goodman's designs featured clean, crisp profiles; absence of surface ornament; large areas of glass; and the innovative use of modern materials. His spatial arrangements minimized circulation space and visually merged inside with outside. Further, his interiors utilized simple textures, natural materials and abundant daylight...Goodman was a prolific innovator, believing that "…the techniques of modern history can serve man's need for beauty as well as, or even better than, the ancient art of handcraft." From his early explorations of simplified wood detailing and structural systems to his later experiments with prefabricated components in wood, aluminum and concrete, he consistently sought to utilize new and improved building materials and construction assemblies.
Pet Space
via: modern cat Making its U.S. debut at the SuperZoo pet industry show this week in Las Vegas, is a new line of Italian pet furniture by b.pet. Unlike anything else at the show, this extremely modern collection is obviously rooted in Italian design. Five different bed styles include the minimalist Tube and Ring, the retro-pop Bubble, the modernist-inspired Squared, and the more elaborate Wave. All are made in Italy and are currently being imported to the U.S. by Kylo Importers.

That's a pillowy pillow!
Michele Varian got the crafty bug after her parents recruited her and her 2 twin sisters to fix their Victorian century-old house. A few years later, she created not only an impressive array of fancy handbags and clutches, but also a collection of handcrafted pillows, each of them uniquely designed. Michele admits most of the designs were inspired by her husband's tattoos! Pretty......pretty cozy.
